Hello Shooters!!!

Well we are about finished with another calendar year and the days are just starting to get longer.  I’d like to high light a few items for you to be aware of, and solicit your input to the board of directors.

First I want to introduce the new Board of Directors.  We have some returnees and a few new directors.  Please welcome them and help them get their feet on the ground.  Returnees are: Lonnie Eads as President, Ed Van Etton as Vice President, Steve Duskett as 2nd Vice President, Steve Grabowski as a returning Secretary, Bill Goulding as our Youth Shooter Specialist, Doug Chase who has brought his expertise from the past, and Leonard Wehking who said he’d “stick around for a while as a director”.  We have two New people, Kerri Nicholson (Treasurer) and Larry Bezemer.

Free Shoot tickets!

For the winter months, December through February, we are having a buy 10 of one kind of shoot ticket (trap or skeet) and get one free.  This has become a winter tradition and we hope it helps those hard core winter shooters.

Component Order

Our last component order was once again a success.  We hope this encourages more shooting and membership.  It’s a lot of work and the club does not make any money at this point on this project, so thank the directors that help make this happen.

Lots of stuff happening

This next year has a very full calendar of events from registered shoots, to hunter education to fund raising events and many more.  We are always grateful for the volunteers that help.  The Boise Gun Club would not be able to function at a level to maintain and improve its infrastructure without those who help.

E-mail vs USPs

In an endeavor to operate in current times and save money, we’d like to migrate (where possible) to an e-mail system for letters and even shoot programs.  Please, when you are at the club, if you wish to go paperless, leave us your email.  We will eventually get there.

Lead Shot

On the last note I thought I’d mention that 19 tons of lead shot suddenly showed up with little warning.  As you all know we have been in the process of mining and with the operation not completed we were pleasantly surprised that we were able to get a load of lead shot delivered.  I believe the miner will keep his equipment here for the winter and hopefully recover some more this spring.  After many discussions we decided that the lead will go for $30/bag. We have 7 1/2s, 8’s, some 8 ½’s and 9’s.  Currently members are allowed to purchase 10 bags maximum for now.  After February 3rd, if there is any remaining lead, members can buy a second batch.  That amount will be determined based on number of purchasers and amount left.  We are trying very diligently to be fair to all members.  So far we have mined about 38 tons (half goes to us) and I hope we can pick up another 10-20 tons this spring.  Again half would belong to BGC inc.

Talent list

We’d like to update our list of people who are willing to help the club with their talents, skills and even equipment if necessary.  It seems we end up relying on the same volunteers over and over, merely because they are the only ones who have ever done it.  It’d be nice if we had a few more resources to pull from so we’re not always leaning on the same people to keep the club operating.  Are you a welder?  Can you run a back hoe?  Are you a concrete person or a construction person?  Do you know computers?   Please let us know what talents you are willing to share with us now and then.

We hope we are making our club better for all to enjoy.

Lonnie
