The Boise Gun Club hosted First Shots seminars on May 18th, June 8th, and June 22nd, 2019. The First Shots program is designed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to provide participants an opportunity to experience shotgun sports, whether they are new to shooting or have been dormant and looking for an opportunity to become active.
All 16 participants were given training in gun safety, range safety rules, Idaho gun ownership and storage laws, review of shotgun parts, and a tutorial on identifying the correct ammunition for target shooting.
Participants were checked for eye dominance issues and corrections were made to obtain the best results. Participants were then taught a good shooting stance and gun mount and finally, the gun fit was checked or corrected.
All shooters were provided one box of shells by NSSF to sample both trap and skeet. Everyone was provided guidance by certified instructors.
Everyone had fun, broke some targets in both sports, and five participants even joined the club!
