Boise Gun Club Board of Directors Meeting Minutes – September 6, 2021

Meeting was called to order at 6:10 PM MDT by President Kent Graham.

Present were: Kent Graham, Chester Carter, Brian Francisco, Don McFarland, Rick Robles, Ed Van Etten,

Leonard Wehking, Abe Wilson, Calvin Kidney, others present were Duncan Gundry, Kent Harris,

Guy Johnson, Richard Wehren, Steve Grabowski.

No minutes from the prior directors meeting were available.

Election of officers was as follows:

Calvin Kidney nominated Chester Carter as Treasurer, Leonard Wehking seconded.  Vote was unanimous in favor.

Ed Van Etten nominated Calvin Kidney as Secretary, Leonard Wehking seconded.  Vote was unanimous in favor.

Leonard Wehking nominated Kent Graham as President, Ed Van Etten seconded.  Vote was unanimous in favor.

Calvin Kidney nominated Leonard Wehking as First vice-president for Trap, Ed Van Etten seconded.  Vote as unanimous in favor.

Don McFarland nominated Ed Van Etten as Second vice-president for Skeet, Calvin Kidney seconded.  Vote was unanimous in favor.

Chester Carter gave the treasurer’s report.  There is approximately $42,000 of liquid assets in the club’s account.  The Boise Gun Club Perpetual Purse is $4844 and the Steve Young Perpetual purse is $3155.

The last load of Targets cost $19,054, which was an increase due to freight and actual  cost of targets.

The current cost per target is $0.0933 or $2.33 per round.

Leonard Wehking moved to approve the Treasurer’s report, Abe Wilson seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

Duncan Gundry asked if it was possible to establish a perpetual purse for Skeet in the name of John Huddleston.   The Board was in favor of the proposal but that it would have to be funded and administered by the skeet shooting.

Guy Johnson, Kent Harris and Richard Wehren presented the tentative plans for the Shot Gun Sports Museum building.  Guy said that the excavation and concrete would be about $6000 and the actual building would be about $16,500.  The building would be 30 x 41 and would have two doors for entry and no windows.  The cost of the building and ongoing expenses would not cost the Boise Gun Club.

Leonard Wehking moved to have the project proceed, Chester Carter seconded the motion.  Motion passed.

It was decided that the Thanksgiving meat shoot would be on the 21st of November from 10AM until dark.  It was also decided that there would be no alcohol sales during the shoot.  The Boise Buckshoots will be manning the kitchen for the shoot.

There was discussion as to the budget for trophies for the registered shoots the club holds. 

Calvin Kidney moved that the budget for the shoots be set at $1,250 for one day shoots and adjusted as appropriate for a two day shoot. Don McFarland seconded the motion.  Motion was approved.

There was discussion on the need for professional help with bookkeeping and accounting help.  It was decided that the firm of Ripley Dorn would be used to help get the accounting practices in order.

Chester moved that $ 1,500 amount be set as a beginning amount for the services; once this amount was reached Chester would report back to the board with what it would take to complete the project.  Don McFarland seconded the motion.  Motion passed. 

It was agreed and approved that Steve Grabowski, Dale Hurd and Kent Harris would have keys for the building and alarm passcodes for the alarm system.

Next meeting was set for 4 October 2021.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.
