A past conviction doesn't have to mean permanent loss of your Second Amendment rights. Jacob Amaru handles firearms restoration cases for clients in Tucson and Arizona, working within state law to help restore gun ownership rights.
Arizona allows firearm rights restoration for most convictions 2 years after probation ends or discharge from prison. For serious offenses—first or second degree murder, manslaughter, aggravated assault with a weapon, sexual assault, armed robbery, burglary, kidnapping, and others—restoration is possible 10 years after discharge.
Some "dangerous offenses" involving intentional serious injury or use of a deadly weapon cannot have rights restored under any circumstances.
Both the Arizona and US constitutions guarantee citizens the right to bear arms. That right has deep roots in American law—from self-defense to hunting to sport shooting. Losing it to a past conviction affects real people, and Arizona law recognizes restoration is possible in certain cases.
Restoration allows you to own, possess, or use a firearm as long as you're not restricted under federal domestic violence bans.
