Aix Taxidermy doesn't just mount birds—they document the moment. Founded by Tomas Rodriguez and Yaira Lopez, a pair of wildlife biologists who met through their shared passion for the natural world, the studio combines scientific knowledge with artistic vision to create pieces that endure.
Tomas Rodriguez, the master taxidermist, built his expertise in Cuba starting as a child with limited resources and old natural history books. Decades as a wildlife researcher refined his understanding of anatomy, ecology, and animal behavior into precise, disciplined craftsmanship.
Yaira Lopez specializes in scenic recreation—the habitat and setting that place your bird in context. As a biologist and conservationist, she handles the artistic composition that transforms a mount from display piece to story.
Limited projects yearly. To maintain quality standards, Aix accepts only a set number of commissions annually. Call ahead before visiting.
Turnaround is typically within one year. Communication runs throughout—you'll stay informed every step. Whether you're bringing the bird in person or shipping it, they provide detailed field care instructions to ensure your trophy arrives ready for transformation.

"Your shot. Your story. Let's show it with pride." — Aix Taxidermy's approach to every commission.
The studio takes its name from Aix—two of the world's most striking ducks, the Wood Duck and Mandarin Duck. The term carries roots in Ancient Greek, originally describing an unidentified diving bird noted by Aristotle. Just as these birds are admired for their beauty and rarity, every mount aspires to that same level of distinction and refinement.
