Full description and what we offer
Wooster Mountain Shooting Range operates as a multi-use outdoor facility run by the Danbury Shooting Sports Association (D.S.S.A.). Located on Sugar Hollow Rd (Route 7) in Danbury, it's designed to provide affordable, safe shooting access for the public—whether you're shooting your first rounds or you've been doing this for decades.
The range accommodates rifles, pistols, and shotguns with no caliber restrictions. Suppressors are legal on the range. You cannot shoot automatic/select-fire firearms, bump-fire stocks, tracer rounds, or exploding targets.
Shotguns are allowed on rifle/pistol days, but you'll need to use the backstop or bring your own target frame—the facility's target frames are rifle/pistol specific.
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Range Fee (per person) | $20 |
| Target Stand Rental | $10 |
| Children under 14 | $5 |
| 5-Day Pass | $80 (includes 1 free visit) |
| Annual Membership | $175 |
Members skip the $10 target stand rental fee and pay only per round for trap shooting instead of buying season passes. If you're a frequent shooter, membership pays for itself.
Call 203-794-9821 for weather updates or same-day changes.
Certified, volunteer range officers staff the range during all public hours. They're there to help—whether you need guidance setting up or have questions about safe handling. The facility has maintained a strong safety record and enforces strict rules:
"At Wooster Mountain, our goal has always been to provide a safe and affordable outdoor shooting experience for the public. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned shooter, we welcome you."
Two free paper targets provided at sign-in. You may also bring: - Your own paper targets - Spinners or reusable metal targets - Your own target frame (must be ~6 feet tall) - Shoot-N-See high-visibility targets (available for purchase on-site)
On the backstop you can shoot clay pigeons, bowling pins, and reusable metal spinners (available for purchase). Bottles, trash, and explosive devices are prohibited.
Every Tuesday year-round, 10 AM to sunset. For full details on the competitive trap program, visit www.pahquioque.com.
Yes to: Out-of-state shooters, children (with parent/guardian), instructors bringing students, outside visitors, photographers (of your group only).

D.S.S.A. actively recruits volunteers for range officer positions, maintenance work (plumbing, carpentry), and general support. Training provided at no cost; you can earn your assistant range officer certification right at the facility.
