Full description and what we offer
Graylight Outfitters operates fully guided archery and rifle elk hunts in Wyoming wilderness units 60, 70, and 71—some of the most remote, unpressured elk country in the Rockies. The outfit sits directly in the path of the legendary Yellowstone elk migration later in the season, where thousands of elk move to winter ranges.
Archery hunts focus on rut action with opportunities at "bulls of a lifetime" in September and early October. Rifle hunts run September through November, including the rare opportunity to hunt elk during the rut—something few areas offer due to the camp's remoteness. The operation also times hunts to intercept migrating elk leaving Yellowstone National Park.
Your base is a five-star wilderness camp along the north fork of the Buffalo River, 16 miles into the Teton Wilderness south of Yellowstone. Canvas wall tents with 3" foam pads and cots, a cook tent, and firewood keep you comfortable. Daytime temps range 20-80°F; nights drop to 10-40°F.
| Hunt Type | Dates | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Archery | Sept 1-8, 10-17 | 1:1 |
| Rifle (rut) | Sept 19-26, 28-Oct 5, Oct 7-14, 16-23, 25-Nov 1 | 2:1 |
Hunt trophy mountain lions across southern and central Utah and northern Arizona—from 10,000-foot peaks to desert flats. This is action-packed, physically demanding hunting. The outfit uses trucks, ATVs, and horses to pursue lions in all conditions: dry ground, snow, everything in between.
The pack of hounds has been bred and worked for decades to perform in any terrain. Guides maintain common sense control and manners. Past clients have taken world-class trophies with expert houndsmen including David Collom.
This is wild hunting. Mountain lion pursuits test you physically and emotionally, push your mind and body to limits, and deliver the purest form of fulfillment—and the lowest of lows when the lion escapes.

Guest Review: "Our horseback trip into the Teton Wilderness was an excellent experience. The natural landscape was stunning, and the fishing was excellent. What made the trip such a success was the professionalism and friendliness of the guides. They were very good with the horses and pack animals... The camp was beautiful with gorgeous views of the valley. The tents were large with very comfortable cots and pads. The food was great and well thought out." — Chris Vance, Vance Cane Rods
