<![CDATA[Young Shooters Compete at Nationals]]>Junior shooting programs don't get nearly enough credit from the broader community. Most people outside the sport picture kids goofing around with Daisy rifles — they don't picture a 50-question written exam standing between a competitor and the national stage.

"We're learning how to be people first — we're learning how to be great shooters but also great people."

That's not something a coach fed her to say. That's a kid who actually got something out of the program beyond a trophy. The written test component is what separates this from backyard plinking — you can't shoot your way around knowing the material.

Anyone here come up through a junior program — 4-H, Scouts, CMP, anything structured — and did it shape how you approach the range now?
