Full description and what we offer
CreekBed Taxidermy specializes in one thing: realistic bird mounts for hunters who want to preserve their best moments in the field. Ron Hutchinson, the owner and taxidermist, has been hunting and fishing since childhood, following his grandfather's footsteps. That lifelong experience in the field directly impacts the quality of every mount he creates.
CreekBed Taxidermy holds a state license from Georgia and a Federal Migratory Permit from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This means Ron can legally mount protected migratory birds—waterfowl, turkeys, and upland game species—legally and correctly.
Before becoming a full-time taxidermist, Ron worked as a professional wildlife and conservation photographer in Georgia and Tennessee. He studied fine art at AAU and holds a degree in forestry and wildlife conservation with special focus on waterfowl migration and habitat. He apprenticed under state and national bird champion taxidermists specializing in waterfowl and turkeys. He mounted his first bird—a flying turkey—in 2006, and has been refining his craft ever since.
That photography background matters. Ron studies bird anatomy, color tones, and posture intensely. Customers regularly comment that his mounts look so real they expect the bird to move.

Ron provides detailed field care instructions on his website because how you handle the bird from the moment you shoot it to when you deliver it affects the final mount quality. Key points:
For Waterfowl: - Never use a duck strap—feathers get bent and torn - Keep the duck separate from others - Cool immediately in ice (plastic between ice and bird) - Don't bag it immediately after the kill - Wrap head loosely with damp paper towel and tuck under wing - Double-bag and freeze until delivery
For Upland Birds: - Don't mix with other birds in game bag - Protect pheasant tails with cardboard guards - Cool immediately, don't bag immediately - Wrap head, smooth feathers, freeze
For Turkeys: - Secure the body immediately to prevent flopping - Keep separate from other birds - Cool in large cooler with plastic barrier - Protect tail feathers from bending - Save any feathers that fall out - Wrap head with damp paper towel under wing
"Ron has mounted a flying turkey for me and I am always amazed at how real it looks." — Jody Daniels
"People have been complimenting my flying pheasant mount nonstop since Ron mounted it two years ago. It still looks as good as when I got it mounted, it's just awesome." — Billy Chapman
"I have watched how Ron obsesses and studies over his photographs of turkeys. I saw first hand this obsession when he mounted my flying turkey for me, the thing looks like it's gonna fly right off the wall." — Danny Cullen
"In all my travels including many expos, I have seen a lot of mounts of all different shapes and poses and they ran the gamut from ok to bad, or unrealistic, but when I saw Ron's I almost expected to hear him gobble! It looks exactly like what I've seen gobblers do in the wild." — Krissy Jean (Krissy Jean Outdoors)
Ron only works with the best materials available and never compromises quality for time. He recreates the look he would want if he had shot the bird himself.
