Full description and what to expect
The Challis Idaho Youth Bird Dog Association offers free shotgun training clinics designed to teach young shooters proper firearm safety, handling fundamentals, and shooting technique. These clinics provide hands-on instruction in a supervised range environment at the Central Idaho Rod & Gun Club.
Participants will work with experienced instructors who cover:
The clinic format emphasizes individual instruction and small-group learning, allowing shooters to practice fundamentals under direct supervision before moving to live shooting.
These clinics are open to youth with little to no shotgun experience. Participants should be mature enough to follow safety instructions and handle a firearm responsibly. Parents or guardians are welcome to observe and participate alongside young shooters.
Clinics combine classroom-style safety instruction with hands-on range work. Expect to spend time on the fundamentals before live-fire practice. Bring a willingness to learn and ask questions—instructors are there to help you develop solid skills from the start.
