Full description and what we offer
West Des Moines Tiger Archery Club serves students across multiple schools in the West Des Moines area—Indian Hills Jr. High, Jordan Creek Elementary, Stilwell Jr. High, Valley and Valley Southwoods High School, and Westridge Elementary.
Their mission is straightforward: advance the archery sport by nurturing existing archers, cultivating new ones, and leading by professional example. Team members commit to sportsmanship on and off the range.
The program follows National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) requirements strictly. All archers use the Genesis bow—no modifications, sights, mechanical releases, or stabilizers allowed. Arrows are Easton 1820 aluminum, 30 inches unmodified.
Eye dominance matters. It's not based on which hand you write with. Coaches can help with a simple test to determine if you need a right or left-handed bow.
Safety is the top priority. Coaches have immediate authority to remove students from practice if behavior becomes unsafe or disruptive.
All archers, instructors, parents, and spectators must conduct themselves with courtesy, consideration, and good sportsmanship. The handbook covers the rules—reading it is required.
Students must create a DNR ID and register for the current season through the NASP Participant Waiver. Most tournament admission fees run around $5 per spectator (cash typically required). Archer entry fees for seasonal tournaments are covered by the school team.
Coaches communicate arrival times; archers should plan to arrive 30-60 minutes before their scheduled shoot. Scores upload to the NASP site after tournaments—view results by school or individual standing.
