Location details and information
Twin Peaks Rifle Club sits in the scenic Gyp Hills of Medicine Lodge, Kansas—a members-only operation built specifically for serious rifle shooters. This isn't a walk-in public range. You get a membership, a personal gate code, and access to facilities designed for precision shooting at distance.
Members receive individual gate codes to enter the range—don't share yours. The range operates sunrise to sunset, 7 days a week. Gate fees: $150 one-time for new members plus $50/month, or $50/month for current members. Guest passes cost $50 per day and require staff approval plus a liability form completed through the website.
Members get access to the South range/property. North Range access is restricted to competition use only.
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Distance | 1000-yard capability |
| Target Types | Steel and paper only |
| Steel Rules | Minimum 150 yards for rifles/carbines; 500 yards for magnum calibers |
| Firing Positions | PRS stages, pistol/carbine bays |
| Hours | Sunrise to sunset, 7 days/week |
You shoot from authorized firing points only. Each target must have a proper backstop. Steel targets stay where they're placed—don't move them. Paper or steel only: no glass, clay pigeons, or trash targets.
Twin Peaks operates as a "Cold Range." All firearms stay in a safe, empty condition until you're on the firing line. When members go downrange to paint steel targets, all firing stops. This requires visual and verbal confirmation that all firearms are clear and the firing line is empty. No ammunition handling while anyone is downrange.
Upon arrival, check in with any other members present and state your intended use.
When using pistol/carbine bays: PRS firing positions directly south of those bays must remain unoccupied.
These rules are enforced strictly:
Cattle roam the property during summer months. Keep gates locked behind you. If a shot or ricochet kills or injures livestock on Twin Peaks or neighboring property, the shooter pays 1.5X current fair market value in cash.
Any shooter under 18 must be under constant adult supervision.
Twin Peaks staff handles range issues. The facility closes to members during matches, training classes, or when cattle are being gathered. Check the website, Facebook page, or Band App for the schedule.
From the rules: "It is our intent to provide a first rate, private facility for the serious marksmen."
Repeat or gross safety violations result in membership revocation without refund. Management reserves the right to refuse anyone access or order them to leave to preserve range safety.
Members clean up after themselves and guests. That includes brass, casings, shells, and all trash. Use the trash cans or pack it out.
