Full description and what we offer
Rick Kerr established Kentucky Gun Coatings in 2009 as Kentucky's first Cerakote certified gun shop. Whether you're restoring a worn vintage firearm or protecting a newer model, Cerakote provides a ceramic finish that outperforms conventional coatings in real-world conditions.
The ceramic-backed finish resists salt water, chemicals, scratches, and chipping—meaning you'll never need an oil cloth again. Your firearm won't rust from hand oils or environmental exposure. The coating is laboratory-tested and field-proven to improve both performance and reliability.
"I just wanted to let you know I received my gun. You did a fantastic job on it. It doesn't look like the same gun." — Bryan
Rick handles custom Cerakote applications on handguns, rifles, shotguns, and slides. He works with everything from vintage Mossberg shotguns to modern Glocks and Kimbers. Multiple customers report sending him 8+ firearms for coating, and nearly all mention coming back with additional projects.
Hours: - Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM - Saturday: 9:00 AM–Noon - Closed Sunday
Customers consistently report fast turnaround times. One customer received his slide back Monday with results he described as "a work of art."
The testimonials emphasize three things: the quality of the finish, Rick's professionalism, and how quickly he completes work. One customer from California noted the price was great and said the finished slide looked like factory-quality work. Another mentioned Rick gave their worn Mossberg "new life."
