Lincoln County Rifle Club started with nine founding members in 1933 and has grown to over 400 shooters from all walks of life. The club operates on four core principles: Safety, Sportsmanship, Responsibility, Respect — baked into every range rule, event, and membership interaction.
Unlimited access to club facilities and grounds, participation in training events, and the chance to shoot with others who share the same interests. The club runs on membership dues and volunteer expertise — there are no paid staff.

Outdoor Ranges - 300-yard rifle range - Two outdoor pistol ranges - Covered trap shooting line (summers)
Indoor Range Seven heated bays primarily for .22 rifle, .22 pistol, air rifle, and air pistol. Centerfire pistol occasionally welcome depending on the event.
The front gate lock power system was renovated in early 2024 to address shortcomings. Check the FAQ before reporting issues.
Weekly/Monthly Recurring Events - .22 Rimfire / Air Rifle Fun Shoots — Wednesday evenings at the indoor range. Small paper targets at 50 feet, five shots per round, cash prizes. $6/night entry; winner of each round gets prize money split with the club. - .22lr / Air Rifle Postals & Practice — Thursday evenings (January-March feature official Postal matches). Scores emailed to Maine Rifle and Pistol Association for statewide club rankings. Also general practice with .22 rifle, .22 pistol, or air rifle/pistol year-round. - Monthly Club Meetings — 2nd Monday, 6-7 PM at the clubhouse. All members invited. Agenda covers club events, facility improvements, new membership applications, and shooting sports issues. - Weekly Trap Shoots — May through September, every Thursday starting at 4 PM (weather permitting). $5 for members, $6 for guests per round of 25 clay birds. Steel shot required — no lead ammunition. First-time shotgun shooters and younger shooters (with member supervision) encouraged.
Seasonal Specialty Matches - IBS Winter Bench Rest — December through March. International Bench Rest Shooters sanctioned competition. Registration starts 8 AM, matches run 9 AM to noon. - Frozen Fingers Frozen Toes .22LR Match — February. 100-yard indoor match. Separate prize categories for iron sights and scope sights. $10 entry. Bad weather date provided. - Frozen Fingers .22lr 200-Yard Match — March. Extended-range rimfire competition at 200 yards. Three targets (1 warmup, 2 record at 10 shots each). Separate Iron-Man class. $15 entry. - IBS Benchrest Matches — Spring and fall 100/200/300-yard competitions. International organization sanctioned. - Buffalo Gong Match Shoot — Long-range target shooting event. - Smallbore & Air Rifle Competitions — Various rimfire and air gun events. - Fall Black Powder Muzzleloader Rendezvous — October event for black powder shooters. - Schuetzen Match — Traditional off-hand rifle competition.
Training & Special Offerings - Monthly Safety Orientation — For new member applicants (by invitation) and current members with guests. Instruction and discussion only; no shooting or gun handling. Covers club facilities, policies, practices, and member responsibilities. - Women's Network — Dedicated shooting group for female members. - Maine Audubon Safety Training — Club members conduct rifle safety instruction for Audubon seasonal staff (May events).
How to Join 1. Complete an Application for Membership (online or download PDF) 2. Submit $20 non-refundable application fee 3. Attend monthly Safety Orientation (by invitation) 4. Upon approval, pay annual membership dues ($90 individual / $135 family) 5. Pay $10 one-time key card fee for gate access
"Membership is both a privilege and a responsibility."
Members who join before March 31 pay dues on January 1st. New members joining after that date renew on their joining anniversary. Dues must be paid within 60 days of the due date; late payment results in deactivated key card. Members lapsed for over one year can reapply through the Reinstatement Process.
