Braintree Rifle and Pistol Club has been a fixture of Massachusetts shooting sports for over 130 years. Incorporated in 1925, the club now maintains approximately 6,000 members across 87 acres of land off Liberty Street in Braintree. The facility combines modern infrastructure with competitive opportunities across multiple disciplines.
The club operates two indoor ranges designed for pistol and .22 rifle shooting:
New State-of-the-Art Indoor Range: - 15 shooting positions - Dedicated handicapped accessible booth - Fully integrated electronic target carriers with variable distance settings - Backstop and baffle system handles all handgun caliber ammunition (including magnum and jacketed loads) plus .22 rimfire - Heating and ventilation systems exceed OSHA and NIOSH lead particle removal standards - Reclaims 80% of waste heat
Original Indoor Range: - 9 shooting positions - Electronically controlled target carriers - Same ventilation standards as new facility
Both ranges require targets placed at or beyond the minimum distance line. Handguns in handgun calibers and .22 rimfire rifles only—no exceptions, or you're out.
The outdoor ranges are all covered and baffled:
Check real-time range status via live camera feed on their website. Outdoor ranges open when Range Officers are on site.
Shoot every Thursday night, 7:30-9:30 PM. All you need is a .22 semiauto pistol with 5-round capacity. Matches structured around Slow Fire (10 rounds, 10 minutes), Timed Fire (5 rounds in 20 seconds, twice), and Rapid Fire (5 rounds in 10 seconds, twice). Shoot standing, one hand at 50 feet. Only top five scores count for league standings—new and rusty shooters welcome without hurting the team.
Winter competition through South Shore Rifle & Pistol League (about 8 clubs). Summer league shoots at home and outdoors as weather permits. 2025-2026 schedule posted, home and away matches scheduled.
