Own Krupp En Bacher Gunsmithing?
01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
Kruppenbacher Gunsmithing handles the work most shops won't touch—complete action disassembly, hand checkering, stock refinishing, and full metal restoration. A.J. works by appointment, so call ahead at 518-284-2459.
Stockwork is their bread and butter. They finish stocks from $40–$120 depending on complexity, hand-checker at $30–$65 per panel, and do full action bedding ($65–$125). They'll work with blanks or existing stocks.
Bluing & Metalwork uses immersion bluing for even, deep finishes. Standard #400 grit runs $125–$135; high gloss mirror finish $150+. Draw filing for pitting adds $10/hour.
Cleaning ranges from basic ($35–$45) to complete action disassembly ($45–$65) depending on firearm type.
Scope & Sight Mounting covers dovetail cutting ($50), drilling and tapping ($75–$100), and bore sighting ($20). Scope mounting with alignment and torque is $40.
Other Work includes Cerakote finishing ($90–$150), barrel cutting and crowning, recoil pad installation ($40), and swivel stud drilling ($35). Misc work runs at $35/hr; machine work at $70/hr.
Standard rates: $45/man-hour, $70/man+machine hour, $30 minimum per gun, $20 rush charge.

Before-and-afters show rifles restored from rust and neglect—a 1903 Springfield fitted to spalted maple, Browning shotguns with rechecked patterns, completely reblued 16-gauge doubles. Hand checkering at 32 lines per inch takes time but looks right.
They also keep some ammo in stock and have firearms available; call for specifics.
