Location details and information
The Papillion LaVista Trap Team (PLVTT) operates a competitive trapshooting program open to all students in grades 7–12 from the Papillion-La Vista School District. No prior experience required—whether you're picking up a shotgun for the first time or already a solid shot, the team welcomes athletes who want to compete.
Trapshooting is a shotgun sport where competitors shoot at fast-moving clay targets launched from unknown angles. Shooters fire a single shot at each target from five different stations positioned 16 yards from the trap house, completing a round of 25 shots. It demands accuracy, focus, and consistency—skills that carry far beyond the range.
Fall features five practices plus a team competition and fun shoot. Practices run rain or shine starting in September; inclement weather sessions move to the clubhouse for classroom instruction. This season is perfect for new shooters to learn fundamentals, gun safety, and range protocols before advancing to spring competitions.
Spring runs late January through early May with two practices per week and multiple weekend competitions: - Inter-team city shoot - Six Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference (ECTC) shoots - One all-conference championship - 55th Annual Cornhusker State Trapshoot (Doniphan, NE, April 30–May 2, 2026) — approximately 2,500 student athletes compete
