Full description and what we offer
High Brass Gun Dogs breeds field-type hunting dogs that work equally well in homes, on the hunt, and in dog sports. Based in Las Cruces, New Mexico—65 minutes north of El Paso, 4 hours south of Albuquerque, and 4 hours east of Tucson—they've been featured multiple times on The Outdoor Channel's American Birdhunter and GunDogTV shows.
Scotty and Caity founded High Brass Gun Dogs from lifelong hunting backgrounds. Scotty grew up on a family preserve, guiding hunters and training dogs for the field. He managed kennel operations and has expertise in pointing and flushing breeds. Caity grew up with Brittany Spaniels, trained dogs and horses competitively for 15 years, and brings that training knowledge directly to puppy socialization. Their three daughters actively participate in raising litters—handling pups at birth, socializing them, exposing them to real-world situations, and assisting with training in obedience, dock diving, and agility.
"Raising and training dogs isn't our full-time job, but we love what we do and believe experience, education, time, and love is what makes our dogs successful."

All litters are raised inside the home—not in kennels. Puppies get daily human interaction, exercise, and real-world exposure. The property is dog-proofed to keep pups safe while they develop naturally. This approach produces well-rounded dogs that transition easily to new homes and do equally well in hunting or non-hunting situations.
"Our dogs are not just working dogs. They are wonderful family and companion dogs. It means they have the energy and stamina to last out in the field and do best having a job."
While bred for hunting, High Brass Gun Dogs' Cockers excel in apartments, small backyards, and non-hunting homes with proper basic obedience. They're intelligent, eager to please, and don't require field work to be fulfilled—a tennis ball and whistle go a long way. Their energy levels vary; the breeders work to match puppy temperament to home type. Half the year the breeders themselves don't hunt; their dogs transition to "couch potato" mode.
What first-time owners should know: - Cocker Spaniels are highly intelligent and energetic - Firm boundaries and basic obedience training are essential - They thrive with mental stimulation and a job (any kind) - Some puppies are naturally relaxed; others higher-energy - They have "addictive personalities"—owners often come back for a second
