Full description and what we offer
Bayside Volunteer Ambulance Corps® (BVAC) started in 1955 as a grassroots emergency response organization. Today, transformed into BVAC Rescue Response Training Center, it operates as an authorized training facility delivering nationally recognized certifications across emergency medicine, firearms safety, and public safety preparedness.
Located at 214-29 42nd Avenue, Bayside, Queens, NY 11361, the facility serves New York City and surrounding areas with hands-on instruction from instructors with real emergency services experience.
The flagship offering is the state-mandated 18-Hour NYS CCW course — required for anyone applying for a concealed carry permit in New York. The program covers:
New shooters and first-time CCW applicants: BVAC's blog post "How Our Class Helps First-Time CCW Applicants" walks through what to expect and how to prepare.
BVAC is an authorized AHA training site offering:
All courses emphasize evidence-based guidelines and hands-on practice with real equipment.
In partnership with Medicine in Bad Places, BVAC delivers NAEMT-accredited trauma training:
| Course | Focus | Who It's For |
|---|---|---|
| TECC (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care) | Civilian and responder medical response in high-threat environments | Law enforcement, military, first responders, security professionals |
| TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) | Military trauma protocols | Military personnel, tactical teams |
| PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support) | Field trauma management | EMS, paramedics, firefighters |
These courses use scenario-based, realistic training that translates directly to emergency situations.
BVAC emphasizes what actually works:
Instructors bring firsthand experience from emergency services, healthcare, and public safety — not just textbook knowledge.
The training center includes multiple dedicated spaces:
"Prepared people save lives — and preparedness starts with training." — BVAC Mission
BVAC serves:
BVAC partners with:
These partnerships ensure students receive expert instruction and access to comprehensive services.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, BVAC reinvests in community education and public safety initiatives. The organization has discontinued ambulance and transport services to focus entirely on high-quality training delivery.
70 years of service. A new chapter of training excellence.
