Green's Defensive Solutions exists because Vernon Green saw a gap: Oklahoma law enforcement needed affordable, high-quality firearms training from people who actually do this work. He founded GDS not to chase revenue, but to help officers build the skills they need for real threats.
Green has been a patrol officer with The Village Police Department since 2013 and serves as a Team Leader for the Oklahoma County Tactical Unit. He became a CLEET Firearms Instructor in 2017 and has attended numerous advanced courses to develop curriculum. His co-instructor, Jordan Corn, started in law enforcement in 2014, became a CLEET Firearms Instructor in 2018, and has been an Oklahoma County Tactical Unit operator for 6 years. The two trained together through firearms instructor school and on the SWAT team—they know how to teach because they live this work.
"I am not here to sell you on some secret technique that will turn you into John Wick—that doesn't exist. My focus is on building solid fundamentals so they become second nature, letting you focus on tactics in real world scenarios."
Their curriculum draws from real-world scenarios and the modern policing environment. Every class is CLEET-accredited, meaning it counts toward Oklahoma law enforcement training requirements.
| Class | Duration | Cost | Focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Pistol Operator | 8 hours | $100 | Pistol presentation, trigger control, recoil control |
| Advanced Pistol Operator | 8 hours | $100 | Movement + presentation, drawing under urgency |
| Red Dot Transition (8hr) | 8 hours | $120 | Iron sights to red dot optics |
| Red Dot Transition (16hr) | 16 hours | $180 | In-depth red dot training with 800+ rounds |
Basic Pistol is open to all skill levels—from seasoned officers to patrol officers just starting defensive pistol training. Advanced Pistol expects you to have solid fundamentals and pushes into complex shooting challenges. Both red dot classes help officers transition from iron sights to optics, with note that you should check your agency's qualification standards.
Typical requirements: duty pistol, 3 spare magazines, holster, 300–400 rounds depending on class, eye/ear protection, and clothing that allows movement.
| Class | Duration | Cost | Focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rifle Skill Builder | 8 hours | $75 | Fundamentals, positional shooting, recoil control |
| Advanced Rifle Operator | 8 hours | $90 | Speed, accuracy under time pressure, follow-up shots |
| LPVO for Patrol | 8 hours | $100 | Low Power Variable Optic deployment, 1x to 4x+ magnification |
Rifle Skill Builder is ideal for refreshers and skill refinement across all levels. Advanced Rifle Operator targets patrol rifle skills with emphasis on rapid positioning and precision under pressure. The LPVO class is built specifically for Oklahoma patrol officers transitioning to or deploying variable optics on duty rifles—covering design, operation, advantages, and real-world deployment.
Ammo requirements range from 350–500 rounds depending on the course. The LPVO class specifies no reloads and requires patrol vest or plate carrier.
GDS offers several high-intensity courses beyond basic pistol and rifle:
