Full description and what we offer
Established in 2007, Direct Action Tactical started with a mission to provide quality firearms and defensive tactics training to law enforcement and public safety personnel. As crime trends shifted, they expanded to serve civilians—bringing the same level of instruction that military and law enforcement operators rely on to save their own lives.
"The same knowledge and tactics that could save yours."
Your instructors aren't range coaches. Kristopher Hurley, the owner and primary instructor, served 8 years as a U.S. Marine (infantryman and explosive ordnance disposal technician) with 26+ years of operational weapons and tactics experience. He recently retired from the Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team where he led TEMS teams and taught tactics.
Phillip Groff, lead instructor, brings 26 years of tactical experience across military and domestic law enforcement. He's a retired Lancaster County police officer who served in the Marine Corps FAST (Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team) and led entry teams for the county's SWAT unit.
Direct Action Tactical emphasizes a real-world environment with open forum discussion. They recognize each student is different—different backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles. The pace adapts to students. Safety is non-negotiable, but the instruction itself is drawn from what actually works in encounters—not what looks good on a range.
Currently offering flexible training locations rather than a brick-and-mortar facility.
Their instructors stay current on today's threats, bringing proven tactics into every course. Whether you're starting from zero or already tactically proficient, the message is the same: continued training matters.
