Guthsville Rod & Gun Club has been operating since at least the 1940s (some members say longer) and now occupies 40+ acres with a 1½ acre pond in Orefield, Pennsylvania—just north of Allentown near the intersection of Routes 309 and 22.
The club maintains a live-in caretaker and operates every day of the year:

Restroom facilities are available throughout the day in the clubhouse. Membership includes a one-year probationary period for new members.
Outdoor Ranges: - 25/50-yard bullseye pistol range (covered firing line) - 25-yard range - Plinking range - 50 and 100-yard rifle ranges (100-yard has covered firing line) - 35-yard special purpose range - Informal trap range (commercial-grade thrower) - Black powder dedicated range - 50-foot range - Basic archery range
Indoor Facility: State-of-the-art 25-yard indoor range reserved for matches and organized practice. Separate clubhouse building with restrooms.
Guthsville offers competitive shooting for ages 19 and under: - Smallbore Precision Prone (.22 Rimfire) focus with emphasis on safety and proper handling - Meets every Wednesday, 6:00–7:30 PM - Competes against four other regional teams - Club membership not required - Contact: Mark Laudenslager, [email protected] - Volunteers and parents welcome to attend
Guthsville has long provided services to area police units and maintains a dedicated range specifically for police training.
All competitive matches enforce strict safety protocols: - Immediate disqualification for unsafe firearm handling (sweeping, finger on trigger, muzzle violations) - Clear range commands: "Range Is Hot," "Load and Make Ready," "Standby," "Stop," "Unload and Show Clear" - Safe areas for handling, holstering, dry firing, and equipment adjustment - Dropping a firearm during any stage = automatic match disqualification
