Full description and what we offer
Narragansett Bowhunters operates on a simple premise: the only way to get better at archery is to practice, and to learn from people who've already walked the path. Located on 45 private acres just off Route 4 in North Kingstown, NBH is the sole archery-focused club in Rhode Island.
The club sits on 45 acres with a heated clubhouse and multiple ranges:
| League | When | Fee | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spot League (Sunday) | 10am | $10 | 300/400 rounds, all skill levels |
| Spot League (Wednesday) | 7pm | $10 | 300/400 rounds, all skill levels |
| 3D League (Thursday) | 9am & 7pm | $10 | 32 arrows, 3-22 yard targets |
| Free Beginner Classes | Mon 4-8:30pm | Free | Instructional sessions open to public |
Public 3D shoots run throughout the year and are open to non-members. No commitment required on league shoots—participate as many or as few weeks as you want.
The membership is a cross-section of Rhode Island: families and singles, young and old, men and women. NBH has several current and past state and national archery champions among its members, and they actively mentor newer shooters. Young archers in the club are developing into future competitors.
"It's a lot of fun and challenging at the same time. You get to sharpen your skills and converse with former and current State Champions and Outdoorsmen." — Club members
Annual memberships cost less than one good archery target. New members need sponsorship from a current member or the Executive Board—the easiest way is to stop by before the second Tuesday general meeting and introduce yourself. Applications are available in PDF format on the website or at the clubhouse.
A quirky club tradition: a foam green pig (Gangus Piggicus) appears at shoots. Archers get one shot per shoot. Hit the IBO 12-ring and you earn membership in the Order of the Green Pig and a pin to prove it.
No hunting on club property — despite how tempting it can be. NBH is strictly for archery practice and competition.
