Pine Tree Gun Club operates a full slate of competitive shooting programs in Foster, Rhode Island, making it a hub for different shooting disciplines.
3-Gun combines rifle, pistol, and shotgun into timed stages where shooters move through varied courses of fire. Targets, distances, and shooting angles change every stage—this forces competitors to handle awkward positions, moving targets, and physical challenges while maintaining accuracy. Mistakes get penalized with added time. PT3G uses standardized RI3Gun rules shared across local clubs so shooters have consistent criteria.
Matches sell out the day registration opens via Practiscore. Any skill level is welcome.
The Lincoln Lawmen club shoots period-correct firearms from 1864-1899 (single action revolvers, lever/pump rifles in pistol calibers, pre-1899 shotguns). They run 4-6 reactive steel target stages monthly on the fourth Sunday, March through November. Safety meeting at 9:45 AM, shooting at 10:00 AM. New shooters are always welcome—experienced members help newcomers learn the sport.
Bowling Pin Matches (2nd Sunday, April-October): $5 entry, open to members and non-members. Two divisions (revolver and semi-auto, iron sights only). Head-to-head competition knocking pins off stands. 75-100 rounds recommended.
High Power Rifle: Center fire rifles at 200, 300, and 600 yards. Competitors shoot slow fire standing, rapid fire sitting, and prone positions. Builds toward NRA National matches at Camp Perry.
Pistol Team: Indoor bullseye league (OSPL) running September-April on Wednesday nights. Shoots .22 rimfire at 50 feet with three different targets (slow fire, timed fire, rapid fire). Pine Tree has won the OSPL Championship multiple times.
Friday nights, 7:00-8:30 PM. Youths learn bullseye shooting with .22 single-shot bolt-action rifles. The club provides rifles, ammunition, safety equipment, and all accessories at no cost. Top-notch instructors teach safe, responsible shooting. Juniors can compete in Ocean State Junior Rifle Association matches through their 21st birthday.
Pine Tree is a private members club requiring a member sponsor. Attend public events on the calendar to meet members—many sponsors are found this way.
