Location details and information
Mid Carolina Rifle Club (MCRC) started in 1973 as a small bench rest rifle club and has grown into a full-featured shooting facility with 15 ranges serving rifle, pistol, and shotgun disciplines. The club operates as a private, non-profit membership organization and remains volunteer-run by the shooting community members who use it.
Members enjoy 365-day access from 9 a.m. to 30 minutes after legal sunset (or 9 p.m., whichever is earlier). Every member attends mandatory new member orientation focused on range safety—the club's core principle. This means everyone knows the same rules, so you're shooting alongside shooters who've received the same safety training.
Household memberships are available, making it accessible for families who want to teach children and grandchildren marksmanship, hunting traditions, and responsible gun ownership.
MCRC runs monthly matches open to the public and sanctioned by national shooting organizations:
| Organization | Disciplines |
|---|---|
| NRA | Precision rifle, service rifle |
| USPSA/IPSC | Practical pistol |
| IDPA | Defensive pistol |
| SASS | Cowboy action shooting |
| Steel Challenge | Speed shooting |
| NCOWS | Cowboy shooting variants |
Match Directors actively invite newcomers to try disciplines—you don't need experience to start.
The range sits about 2 miles south of South Congaree and Pineridge, easily accessible from I-26, I-77, and I-20. Address: 3435 Fish Hatchery Road, Gaston, SC 29053.
Important: SIG Sauer P320 pistols and all variants (including M18) are prohibited. All members must swipe or key in every time they enter or leave, even during matches.
MCRC is affiliated with the NRA, NSSF, NASR, and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)—credentials that matter if you're serious about organized shooting sports.
Contact: 803-796-1009 or vice president at 803-629-7095 for membership questions.
