Full description and what we offer
Long Range Shooters of Utah offers two tiers of precision rifle instruction in Price, Utah. Their 2-Day Intro to Long-Range Shooting course starts Friday with classroom work on fundamentals, optics setup, and ballistics apps. Saturday is 100% range time where you'll confirm your zero, practice wind calling, and work up to 1000 yards. Every student leaves having hit the Milk Jug Challenge—that's the guarantee.
Cost runs $600 spring/fall, $650 summer. Classes cap at 18 students with 3-4 instructors, so you get actual attention.
Day 1 classroom covers: - Fundamentals of marksmanship (position, breath control, natural point of aim, trigger control, spotting) - How to mount, level, and torque your scope with proper eye relief - All riflescope functions: zeroing, zero-stop, dialing windage/elevation, parallax adjustment - Ballistics app setup for your specific rifle and ammo - Low-tech wind formula you can use from memory—no phone required
Day 2 range work: - 100-yard range for confirming zero and capturing muzzle velocity - 1000-yard Milk Jug Challenge (you will hit it) - Optional extended challenges at 1200 yards, 1500 yards, and 1 mile for $20 per attempt
The instructors focus on removing "human elements" that cause misses. Once you understand your ballistics, your wind hold, and how to execute the fundamentals consistently, hitting distant targets becomes repeatable.
"Within 4 hours we were hitting every 100 yards out to 1000 yards. 300, 400 and 500 yards seem like nothing now." — Jeff, Park City, UT
If you've completed the intro or have equivalent long-range experience, the 201 course takes you into field applications. You'll shoot from improvised positions—prone, sitting, kneeling, standing on uneven terrain. Day 1 refreshes fundamentals and wind calling as both shooter and spotter. Day 2 focuses on understanding wobble zone and stability techniques in real-world conditions.
Requires: Sub-MOA precision rifle, 150–200 rounds of match-grade ammo, and intermediate fitness level. Dates coming soon.
