West Rutland ATV Sportsman's Club (WRASC) is Vermont's oldest all-terrain vehicle club, founded in 1998. However, this is not a shooting range — WRASC is an ATV riding club that maintains approximately 50-60 miles of legal ATV trails across three trailhead areas in west-central Vermont.
WRASC is one of the two founding clubs of the Vermont ATV Sportsman's Association (VASA) and was co-winner of VASA's 2010 Club of the Year award. With over 200 members, the club promotes fun, legal, safe, and responsible ATV riding for all ages.
The club operates three distinct trail systems: - Family-friendly beginner and intermediate trails - Expert-level riding areas - Primarily rocky mountain and forested log trail riding with minimal dirt road sections
Trails are located across West Rutland, Ira, Middletown Springs, Poultney, and Danby, Vermont, on private contracted land. The riding season typically runs from April through October, with opening and closing dates determined by landowner specifications and weather conditions.
Access requires VASA membership, which includes a trail access decal permitting riders to use over 800 miles of legal ATV trails statewide. Membership costs are: - Vermont-registered ATVs: $80 (2025) - Out-of-state ATVs: $125 (2025)
WRASC hosts numerous events throughout the season, including: - Club rides - Poker runs - Candy hunts - Benefit rides - Potluck lunch rides - Parade participation - Dealership open houses and swap meets
The club meets at 7:00 PM on the 3rd Monday of each month at the West Rutland Town Office on Main Street. Prospective members are welcome to attend meetings or contact officers directly.
