Dale Horton started young—9 years old with a correspondence course from Northwestern School of Taxidermy, practicing on pigeons his brother shot. By high school, he'd formalized his training at technical college. Word spread fast about his work. Friends of friends were calling for whitetail mounts and largemouth bass. Eventually the demand outpaced his spare time, so he went full-time.
