Our Friend: Steve Young. 1951-2005.
It was a real shock to the Trapshooting community when Steve passed away suddenly in 2005. Not just because it was so unexpected, but because Steve had so many good friends and was so well liked and respected for his personality, friendship, accomplishments, and his efforts in support of gun clubs, state associations, and individuals within the sport.
Steve loved sports and competing from when he was a young boy throughout his adult life. He loved playing softball, basketball, and bowling among others. When he returned to trapshooting , it became one of his passions and he became very good at it with many wins from shoots of all sizes. The crowd could be large or small and he would do his best and be a gracious winner or be happy for someone else if they came out on top. Steve’s wins included many from State shoots, Zone shoots, and the Grand Pacific. One of his most treasured accomplishments was winning the Washington State Bank Handicap during the 1999 Grand Pacific at the Evergreen Gun Club. He fired the only 99 in a field of 479 shooters.
We would like to have displays of memories of the good times during Steve’s life and we want you to join in. If you have a favorite memory (or several) of an event involving Steve, we ask that you share them with us. It can be long or short and you can write it up or just phone it in and we’ll get it ready for display.
Send memories to: Kent Harris. Phone: 345-0711. 3717 Custer Dr. Boise, Id. 83705. Email: kentdeadapair@cableone.net

Information on Program Purses and Options.
First of all – new shooters please understand that you do not have to enter any of these purses or options to shoot the event. They are a gamble and add excitement to the game. MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WORK.
To help you with this, there will be an information packet that you can pick up when you register for the shoot. For information on Lewis Options, handicap purses, and 25 and 50 handicap options, refer to this hand-out. (For the Jackpot Option, the perpetuals and the Hall of Fame Lewis see the following in the program). You should understand what these options and purses are, how they work and how they are paid out. Also please ask questions if you have them. Very few shooters understood many of these things the first time they shot either. The Boise Gun Club wants you to have fun when you come and shoot with us. We don’t want you entering something you didn’t understand. (You can ask Kent Harris, Wayne Pickerill or John Booth among others if you have question).
Steve Young Jackpot Option.
For this shoot there will be no special event on the handicap. Instead, the Steve Young Jackpot Option is being offered as an alternative for the more “adventurous” handicap shooters. The option will cost $25 with all of the money going back to the shooters on that day. It will be paid 1 in 6 entries, high gun.
6 entries or less will pay: 100% high gun
7-12 entries will pay: 60%-40% high gun
13-18 entries will pay: 50%-30%-20% high gun
19 or more will pay: 30%-20%-30%-20% high gun
(this last pay-off spreads the money out a little bit more)
