
The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down New Jersey's ban on semiautomatic rifles and magazines holding more than 10 rounds Friday, ruling the 1990 law unconstitutional under the Second Amendment's historical tradition test established in Bruen. The NRA, which has litigated the case since 2018, called it a historic victory. A circuit split now looms, potentially putting the issue before the Supreme Court.
