Started in Idaho, now serving all 50 states. Meet the team behind the platform built by shooters, for shooters.
01 // MISSION
Why BOISE GUNCLUB exists and what we're building
Idaho was the perfect launchpad. Constitutional carry state, one of the highest gun ownership rates in America, millions of acres of BLM land for shooting, and a firearms community that actually knows each other. If you can't build a useful platform here — where people actually shoot regularly and care about accurate information — you can't build it anywhere.
The problem was universal: range hours buried in Facebook posts, match schedules scattered across club sites, FFLs with outdated contacts, nowhere to find honest intel on public shooting locations. Every state has this problem. The 80+ million American gun owners all deal with the same fragmented information landscape.
What started in Idaho's Treasure Valley now covers the entire country. Every FFL in America (116K+) is searchable here, verified against ATF databases. Community-submitted events, honest reviews from real shooters, and crowd-sourced intel on shooting locations — state by state, with local context for each region.
This isn't a VC-backed startup trying to "disrupt" anything. It's the same tool we built for Idaho, scaled to help shooters everywhere. Same principles: accurate data, no bullshit, community-driven content. Whether you're looking for a gunsmith in Texas, a USPSA match in Florida, or BLM shooting areas in Montana — you should find it here.
Responsible gun ownership starts with education and safe practices. We promote verified training resources and emphasize safety in all community interactions.
National reach with local depth. Each state has its own culture, terrain, and shooting traditions. Hand-written content for every region, not generic templates.
User-submitted content, community reviews, and grassroots organization. This is a platform built by shooters, for shooters — not a corporate directory.
Honest reviews, verified business data, open moderation policies. No pay-to-play listings or hidden algorithms — just accurate information.
02 // TEAM
The shooters behind BOISE GUNCLUB
The Boise Gun Club started in Idaho when a few shooters got tired of the same old problems: Facebook groups with buried information, outdated websites, corporate platforms that either ban firearms content or don't give a shit about the community. We built the tool we wished existed — and it turns out shooters everywhere were dealing with the same frustrations.
The team is still based in Idaho, still owner-run, still community-driven. The platform just covers more ground now. Same people, same principles, bigger scope.
Founder & Developer
Graphic designer, web developer, and full-stack marketer who worked as a firearms appraiser and historical researcher at Old Arms of Idaho. Been shooting since he could legally buy a gun and somehow turned into the biggest firearms nerd in the friend group. Handles platform development, infrastructure, and the design system that keeps thousands of listings running smoothly.
Co-Owner
Grew up in a shooting sports family — parents Kent and Liz Harris are PITA Hall of Fame trap shooters. Brings community perspective and an understanding that firearms platforms need to serve families, new shooters, and the broader shooting community, not just the tactical crowd.
Community & Marketing
Been shooting since childhood and got Steve into firearms in the first place. Photographer, writer, and marketer who understands how to build authentic community without corporate marketing nonsense. Handles outreach, content direction, and keeping the platform true to its roots as it scales nationally.
