Tony Kidd spent decades in the military firearms world. Chief Pistolsmith at Fort Hood (1990-1994), then Fort Benning (1994-1998). Factory-trained on Krieghoff, Walther, FAS, Anschutz, and Hammerli. Headed the Army Marksmanship Unit's R&D Department from 2004-2008. Inducted into the Army Marksmanship Hall of Fame in 2012 for his support work.
When he started looking at the 10/22 platform in the mid-1990s, he noticed something: a rifle that cost $150 shot as well as Anschutz barreled actions costing thousands—but the trigger was holding it back. So he redesigned it.
In 1996, working with USAMU International and Olympic Rifle gunsmith Chuck Gartland, Kidd developed a two-stage trigger that actually works. Light. Repeatable. Reliable. Troy Lawton tested the prototype and three weeks later won the Smallbore Silhouette Nationals—with a 10/22 autoloader. That had never been done before.
The trigger earned a patent. Everything else followed.
Six weight classes to match your shooting style:
| Barrel Type | Weight | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy Match | 3.3-3 lbs | Bench rest, target shooting |
| Fluted | 3-2.56 lbs | Accuracy with reduced weight |
| Light Tapered | 2.75 lbs | Field use, balance |
| Lightweight | 2-1.87 lbs | Hiking, general shooting |
| Ultra Lightweight | 1.25 lbs | Minimal weight penalty |
| Supergrade | 4-1 lbs | Custom precision builds |
Each barrel comes in polished or bead-blasted finish, stainless or black, threaded or non-threaded. Prices range $242-$385 depending on specs.
"We make our own .22LR rifle which we call Supergrade. It has a patented receiver barrel connections that eliminates barrel fitment problems."
This is the key differentiator. While other 10/22 builders use factory receivers and adapt barrels to them, KIDD engineered the connection itself. No shimming. No adapting. Shoots.

Kidd didn't start with a CNC machine and a catalog. He learned on Anschutz. Walther. Hammerli. Olympic-level equipment. Then he applied that precision to the most popular .22 rifle in America. Everything KIDD makes reflects that military gunsmith pedigree—reliability first, accuracy second, weight where it matters.
