Tom Houghton Sr. started H-S Precision in 1978 with a background in chemistry and competitive benchrest shooting. He and his wife Vivian sold their farmhouse and bet everything on the firearms industry. That gamble paid off.

Tom revolutionized rifle manufacturing by inventing the first fully synthetic rifle stock with an integrated aluminum bedding block—a breakthrough that earned patents and caught the attention of defense and law enforcement agencies.

They also manufacture and supply custom stocks for Remington, Howa, Savage, Ruger, Weatherby, Winchester, and Marlin platforms. Barrel blanks, detachable magazines, and test equipment round out their product line.
