Full description and what we offer
American Cyclery started in 1941 when Oscar Juner, a former Six Day track bicycle racer, opened the doors at 510 Frederick Street in San Francisco. Eighty years later, it's still the oldest bike shop in the city—and they're not coasting on that history. The shop carries classically styled bikes alongside cutting-edge cycling tech, everything from $399 hybrid commuters to high-end carbon road bikes.
Bicycles: - Road bikes (Giant, Cervélo, Bianchi, Surly) - Mountain bikes (Santa Cruz Blur, Bronson, Hightower) - Kids bikes (WOOM Austrian brand, plus wheel sizes from 12" to 26") - Commuter/urban (Fixed gear, single speed, city bikes) - E-bikes (Giant, Liv, Bianchi—test rides available) - Cyclocross, hybrid, comfort, cruiser, fitness models
Current Deals: - All Fuji bikes: 20% off in January - New Batch hybrid fitness bikes: $399 (buy 2 for $600) - Bianchi Milano comfort hybrids: $675 (step-thru and men's frames, sizes 38-54cm) - Carbon bike BOGO: Buy a Giant, Cervélo, or Bianchi carbon bike, get a free Batch hybrid
Parts & Components: They carry everything modular: bottom brackets, brakes, derailleurs, shifters, pedals, saddles, wheels, tires, tubes, hubs, rims, spokes, and specialty brands like Tannus (tire inserts), DT Swiss, RockShox, SRAM, and Zipp.
Accessories & Apparel: - Helmets (adults and kids) - Cycling shoes and casual shoes - Jerseys, shorts, outerwear, gloves, socks - Eyewear, lights, locks, hydration packs - Car racks (hitch-mount, roof-mount, trunk-mount, pickup/RV) - Tools, trainers, travel cases
"Our service department is currently open but at limited capacity."
Their staff spends "countless hours carefully selecting a wide range of products that are functional, easily serviceable and enduring." They skip trendy marketing hype. They're direct access dealers for Surly bikes (Straggler, Preamble, Bridge Club, Disk Trucker in stock), authorized Cervélo retailers, and carry Salsa bikes.
They've been featured in Bicycling Magazine, Outside Magazine, and won Bicycling Magazine's America's Best Bike Shop (October 2011). They were named a National Bicycle Dealers Association Top 100 Dealer multiple years (2012, 2014-2018) and won the Interbike 2017 Retail Innovation Award. They're even in the book Oldest San Francisco by Alec Scott.
Notable customer: Robin Williams picked up a SOMA Rush custom build here in 2006.
