Full description and what we offer
Brumfield Taxidermy has been creating custom mounted trophies since 1996. Greg Brumfield, the master taxidermist and founder, won the North American Champion award at the 2012 National Taxidermy Competition—the highest honor in the Division of Excellence. He's been competing since 1996 and now serves as a taxidermy competition judge.
Greg approaches taxidermy as both craft and art. "It's all in the details," he explains. "So few taxidermists incorporate the intricate details that make the difference between mounting an average trophy and mounting a trophy that truly personifies a wild beast's innate spirit." He founded the studio as a completely custom operation, refusing to accept mediocrity.
The studio works with accomplished hunters and corporate accounts across North America and internationally. Whether you're mounting a ram from a hunt you were on or a trophy from Alaska, they handle the full pipeline.
Brumfield's exclusive MasterMount line represents their highest tier. These are singular works of art, limited to 10 per calendar year. Each MasterMount involves:
"If you're a highly accomplished hunter or elite sportsman who appreciates the beauty of a truly uncommon mounted trophy, a MasterMount is your ideal choice." — Greg Brumfield
They also offer:
Brumfield emphasizes consulting before you hunt. Proper field care directly affects the final mount quality. They provide guidance on:
Field Care Essentials:
Bacteria begin decomposing an animal the moment it dies. Above 40°F, bacteria growth accelerates rapidly. The cape is most susceptible to spoilage and requires freezing if immediate delivery isn't possible.
Location isn't a barrier. They serve hunters across the United States and foreign countries.
For Colorado Residents: - Denver area receiving station - Southern Colorado receiving stations - Alaska receiving stations for northern hunts
Domestic Shipping: - Free shipping tags provided before your hunt - Perishable capes require next-day or 2nd-day air - Include hunting license number and tag numbers
International Shipping: - Handle import permits and documentation - Provide laminated shipping tags - Full coordination from field to studio
Once complete, they securely pack and ship your finished trophy to you.
They provide detailed guidance on display and maintenance:
Display Conditions: - Avoid direct sunlight (causes fading) - Keep away from excessive heat and moisture - Maintain insect-free location - Keep away from pets - Use dehumidifier if displaying in basements
Maintenance (twice yearly): - Inspect for insect damage - Smooth hair with fine-tooth brush (with the grain) - Clean with Show Sheen livestock product - Clean eyes with damp Q-tip (very light pressure) - Antler cleaning with Liquid Gold (light application only) - Dust mount base with compressed air
Storage: - Follow all display guidelines - Use mothballs and bug bombs to prevent infestation - Never store multiple mounted trophies together—insect cross-contamination is costly to reverse

Brumfield operates on the principle that excellence isn't exclusive. They serve corporate accounts and accomplished hunters, but their service is tailor-made for any budget. "No trophy too large, no budget too small" is their approach—you'll find mounting options that fit what you can afford while meeting their exacting standards.
Greg's commitment to detail means spending more time per trophy than most studios in the industry. This drives both his competition success and his reputation.
