Douglas County IDPA

Douglas County IDPA is the local chapter of the International Defensive Pistol Association, founded in 1996 to give shooters a competition format that actually reflects how people carry and use firearms in real life.

Before IDPA existed, there was nowhere to compete with common service pistols. Other shooting sports had become equipment races—IDPA changed that.

Here's the key difference: you can compete with the same duty or concealed carry holster and pistol you use every day. No special match gear required. No handicaps for using practical equipment. Just your defensive setup solving challenging real-world scenarios.

Matches simulate genuine self-defense encounters using: - Full-power service ammunition - Practical handguns and holsters suitable for actual carry - Challenging defensive shooting problems - Courses of fire designed to test real-world skill
