Arrow Lumber started in March 1997 when Barney Wagner—a Navy veteran with 30 years in the lumber business—founded the company on a simple idea: rural Western Washington needed full-service building materials retailers they could actually rely on.

Barney partnered with his protégé Shawn Roehr, who was only 16 when introduced to the business. Working 16-hour days purchasing, selling, and delivering materials, they grew from a small Puyallup operation into a network of 8 independently owned and operated locations.

• •1997 - Barney Wagner and Shawn Roehr launch Arrow Lumber in Puyallup with Al Meier as partner. Same year, they acquire Inter-Mountain Building Materials in Eatonville, their first official location.

• •1999 - Flagship Buckley location opens August 6th on Highway 410. Port Orchard location (former Bethel Builders Home Center) opens August 30th.

• •2004 - Randle location opens April 14th, serving the fourth rural market.

• •2005 - Shawn Roehr becomes President and Co-Owner.

• •2006 - Logan Lumber Company in Orting acquired July 24th.

• •2007 - Company celebrates 10th Anniversary with expanded community involvement in local schools, food banks, and events.

• •2008-2015 - Port Townsend location developed (building permits delayed until 2014). Grand opening June 2, 2015.

• •2017 - Company celebrates 20th Anniversary. Mike McGinnes promoted to Vice President.

• •2018 - Levee Lumber's Ocean Shores operation acquired, continuing focus on underserved rural markets.

• •2021 - Founder Barney Wagner passes away after cancer battle. His legacy continues guiding decision-making.

• •2022 - Promotions: Greg Simpson to General Manager, Mike McGinnes to President.

• •2024 - Eighth location opens in Elma, continuing expansion into underserved Western Washington markets.
