Andy Rasmussen turned his obsession with hunting into a guiding business based out of Orofino, Idaho—a town of about 3,000 in the Clearwater River country. Rasmussen Outfitters specializes in black bear hunts using trained hound packs.

You're up well before sunrise. Breakfast gets made, lunches packed, trucks started. The dogs load up and head out on access roads through pine forests and mountain terrain. When the lead dogs hit a fresh scent, the whole pack releases and goes to work treeing the bear.
