Full description and what to expect
This event is open to all handgun shooters, including rimfire and revolver. All skill levels welcome. Stages will consist of 5 hanging steel targets at various distances, similar to national Steel Challenge events. Participants will shoot five strings at each stage. The four best strings will be kept and will be added for the score on that stage.
Matches will have four stages. After all shooters have cycled through the first two stages, the targets will be reconfigured into different stages. If there are a large number of competitors, the participants will be split into two squads.
For centerfire pistol, you will start with a holstered pistol. Please bring an outside the waistband holster for safety. Rimfire pistol starts from the low ready, so a holster is not required. New shooters may be allowed to start with a centerfire pistol at the "low ready" position. If four stages are shot, 100 rounds will be fired if there are no misses. It is recommended to bring a minimum of 150 rounds, more if you think you will miss a lot. If you are shooting a pistol with single-stack magazines, please try to bring five magazines. For new shooters who may not have five magazines, we will allow you to top off your magazines on the firing line. You will be firing five strings of five+ shots during each stage.
Setup will start at 4:30 pm and the event will start at 6:00 pm. If you want to shoot all the stages, you will need to arrive by 6:00. Shooters who arrive after 6:00 will still be allowed to shoot, but would not be able to place or win in the overall match unless all stages were completed.
There will be a $5 entry fee for this event. If you are not a member of the range, an additional $5 guest fee will apply. A gate code is required to enter the range, so if you are not on our mailing list, reach out to Mike for a gate code. The event will take place in Gulleyville (the old western town at the Oregon Trail Shooting Range) and either the 25-yard bay, or the closest 100-yard bay.
