Optimist Club of Hammond

The Optimist Club of Hammond is a community service organization located in Hammond, Indiana, dedicated to youth development and community engagement rather than operating as a traditional shooting range.

Founded in 1937, the Optimist Club of Hammond is a civic and service club with 90+ members serving Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicagoland area. While not primarily a shooting facility, the club operates as a membership-based organization focused on "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" through community programs and youth support.

The club hosts various community and youth-oriented events throughout the year, including:

• •Hammond Optimist Youth Sports Complex - A premier youth athletic facility featuring irrigated baseball fields with electronic scoring and nighttime lighting
• •Annual Fundraising Events - Smelt Fry (April), Wing Fest, Trivia Nights, Turkey Shoot, and Winter Mingle
• •Youth Competitions - Oratorical contests, robotics support, and youth sports programs
• •Community Events - Christmas Parade participation, Father/Son/Daughter activities, and Pumpkin Carving

The club is headquartered at 7015 Kennedy Ave., Hammond, IN 46323. The organization maintains a clubhouse that serves as a meeting place for members and hosts club functions. Membership is required to participate in club activities and events.

Since 1996, the Optimist Club of Hammond has donated over $1.2 million to youth-focused 501(c)(3) organizations, including support for robotics programs, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA initiatives, and youth sports leagues throughout Northwest Indiana.
