Full description and what we offer
Volquartsen Firearms started in 1974 when the founder worked nights and weekends improving firearms from his basement. By the mid-1980s, the operation went full-time. After appearing on the cover of American Handgunner in 1989, demand shifted the company's focus to rimfire firearms. Today, the business operates from Carroll, Iowa and designs every firearm to exacting standards.
"We believe that no one needs another standard anything. As second generation Volquartsens, we're programmed to hold ourselves to a higher standard."
Volquartsen applies Cerakote ceramic coating in three service tiers:
| Service Type | What It Covers | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Small Part | Any single part smaller than stock/chassis/brace | Slide, receiver, barrel components |
| Large Part | Stock, chassis, brace, or similar | Full handgun frame, rifle stock |
| Complete Firearm | Entire disassembled and reassembled firearm | Full rifle or pistol finish |
Standard Cerakote colors include: - H-190 Armor Black - Classic matte black - H-267 Magpul Flat Dark Earth - Tan finish - H-232 Magpul O.D. Green - Military green - H-237 Tungsten - Grey metallic - H-151 Satin Aluminum - Polished silver
Custom patterns and full-custom designs available by request. Custom color Cerakote service also offered for customers seeking unique finishes.
Important: Volquartsen can only disassemble and reassemble firearms they manufactured themselves. Scopes and optics cannot be Cerakoted. Contact them to confirm your firearm qualifies.
Cerakote isn't just cosmetic. The ceramic coating adds: - Corrosion resistance - Protects against rust and oxidation - Wear protection - Stands up to handling, holster rubs, and field use - Element protection - Salt air, moisture, and temperature swings - Durability - Professional finish rated for years of reliable use
The company sponsors competitive shooters across multiple disciplines:
They compete in Rimfire Challenge (RCSA), Steel Challenge (SCSA), USPSA, Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP), and other precision rifle and pistol competitions.
Beyond firearms and Cerakote, Volquartsen stocks: - Apparel - Branded clothing and merchandise - Gun Cases - Storage and transport solutions - Holsters - Carry solutions for competition and duty use - Scopes & Optics - Riflescopes and sighting systems - Shooting Supplies - Ammunition, targets, cleaning supplies - Signs & Swag - Branded merchandise - Gunwerks Elevate Bipod 2.0 - Precision shooting support
