Full description and what we offer
Rod and Lorita Zohn started Kansas Creek Gamebirds in 1998 as a family operation. Rod is a fourth-generation farmer and rancher on this property in northern Kansas, located in the rolling hills overlooking the Republican River Valley—halfway between Concordia and Belleville. The operation spans over 4,000 acres of controlled shooting area.
Over a 95% return rate of customers. Since 1998, they've hosted hunters from 44 states and 8 countries.
They operate on a state-licensed controlled shooting area, which means fair-chase hunting with released birds that supplement their wild pool. The operation recovers just over 60% of released birds, and the bird population actually grows as the season progresses. This isn't a put-and-take operation—it's a real hunting experience.
Pheasant season runs mid-October through mid-March. Hunts are fully guided from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
What's Included: - Fully guided hunting on their controlled shooting area - Well-trained pointing dogs (yours or theirs) - Birds cleaned and processed - Noon meal and two coffee breaks - No bag limits (they set their own on CSAs)
Pricing: - 1-2 persons per guide: $480/person - 3+ persons per guide: $440/person - Groups limited to maximum 4 hunters per guide - $40 refundable deposit per hunter (30 days cancellation notice)
Dogs & Guides: Kansas Creek has 8 guides, each with their own trained dogs. You can bring your own dogs if you want, or hunt with theirs at no extra cost. Groups of 10-20 can participate in these hunts.
What to Bring: - Shotgun and ammunition - Ice chest for processed birds - Outdoor clothing - Blaze orange and protective glasses (required) - Kansas Controlled Shooting Area or regular hunting license
They've provided guided whitetail hunts for select clients and now offer them to more hunters. Fully customized based on available dates and your needs. Can be combined with morning pheasant hunts or afternoon upland bird hunting.
Guided hunts for Rio Grande subspecies. Custom-designed hunts—call to discuss dates and your specific needs.
Mix and match—morning whitetail deer with afternoon pheasant, or morning turkey with afternoon chukar and pheasant hunting.
Primarily pheasant, plus quail and chukar. Chukar especially test shooting skills. Native birds are supplemented with hard-flying released stock.
Hunts take place close to headquarters. If roads aren't muddy, most hunters drive to the location. Bad weather? They provide transportation.
You'll need a Kansas Hunting License. A Controlled Shooting Area license is the cheapest option, or buy a regular Kansas license if you plan to hunt other species. Both are good for the calendar year. Purchase at Walmart in Kansas or online at the KDWP website.
Rod and Lorita also own and operate Lac Seul Lodge in Ontario, Canada, offering fishing for trophy walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and muskie on the famous Lac Seul Lake.
