Eckman Hunting Preserve operates a controlled shooting area near Baldwin City offering guided and unguided hunts for bobwhite quail, chukar, and pheasant. The preserve works with professional hunting dogs and accommodates groups of 2-5 hunters depending on the package selected.
$5 cash discount on half-day hunts, $10 cash discount on full-day hunts, $25 cash discount on blowout hunts.
The preserve's eight-to-twelve station course puts hunters around a 24-foot tower in a creek bottom. Hard-flying pheasants come at 30-40 feet overhead with professional dogs working to retrieve downed birds. Runs $210-250 per person for 10 birds driven. Minimum 6 shooters, maximum 20.
All hunters must carry a valid Kansas Hunting License or Controlled Shooting Area Permit. Use of hunting dogs is required—bring your own or use the preserve's. #6 shot or smaller, magnum shells only. Blaze orange vest or hat, eye and ear protection mandatory.
Reservations required with $120 deposit at booking. Limited slots available for the 2025-2026 season.
