Full description and what we offer
Downy's mounts it all—literally. Small game trapped or hunted, upland birds, waterfowl, deer, bears, and African exotics from kudu to life-size elephant. If the animal can be hunted or trapped, they can make it transportable and realistic enough to impress.
Standard processing runs three tiers:
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Quartering only | $80 |
| Grinding only | $85 |
| Custom processing (choice cuts, burger, T-bones, tenderloins) | $90 |
Small deer discounts available.
They build custom sausage and specialty items by the package:
Bacon-hickory smoked sugar-cured bacon at $9.75—ask about the new bacon burger option.
Beyond processing, Dowdy's offers guided hunts and operates a taxidermy school. They maintain a capes-for-sale section for those sourcing specific pieces.
Dowdy's is an authorized processor for Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry, a nonprofit that has served over 2 million meals to Kentucky's food-insecure population. Hunters donate an extra doe, Dowdy's processes it at no charge (KHFH covers costs), and The Harvest distributes the venison to homeless shelters and food banks statewide.
Kentucky ranks high for childhood hunger—the average hungry person in the state is eight years old. Protein supports brain development and learning. By donating processed venison, hunters directly support wildlife management and feed Kentucky's hungry kids.
Downy's runs a "Braggin' Board" for hunters to post mounted or processed game. Bring a digital copy to the shop or email [email protected].
