Full description and what we offer
Boyne Mountain started in 1948 when Michigan Senator Pearson sold founder Everett Kircher the land for $1 with the famous challenge: "Anybody damn fool enough to want to build a ski hill, well... I'll give you the property." That January 1949 opening—with just two runs, the first chairlift in the Midwest (moved from Sun Valley), and a warming hut—launched what's now one of the region's most recognizable resort destinations.
Winter Operations - 415 skiable acres with multiple terrain areas including Disciples Ridge (added in 1995 with twelve runs) - Multiple chairlifts including the Mountain Express (America's first six-seat, high-speed chairlift, installed 1992) and Doppelmayr quad in the Meadows - Two-resort access: One Lake eFlex pass unlocks 115 trails across 850 acres at both Boyne Mountain and The Highlands at Harbor Springs - Professional-grade snowmaking using Boyne's own Low-E fan gun technology (introduced 2007) for high-output, low-energy snow production
Year-Round Attractions - Avalanche Bay: Michigan's largest indoor waterpark, opened 2005. Features The Big Couloir (steepest waterslide drop in the industry—10° from vertical with a 360° loop) - The Spa at Boyne Mountain: Full-service spa with pedicure lounge, nail and hair services - SkyBridge Michigan: Suspended bridge experience surrounded by snow and twinkling lights - Zipline Adventures: Including Twin Zip (780 feet over a pond with fountains) - Alpine Golf Course (18 holes, opened 1970) - The Monument (18-hole golf course, dedicated 1986 with Byron Nelson, Gene Sarazen, and Cathy Whitworth in attendance) - Boyne Valley Trail: Paved bike path linking resort to Boyne City (opened summer 2020) - Sports Complex: Multi-field facility hosting soccer and lacrosse tournaments
