Full description and what we offer
New South Gun Shows operates the original Jackson gun show, a staple event for Mississippi firearms enthusiasts, hunters, and collectors. Based in Jackson at Mississippi Trade Mart, these shows bring together vendors, exhibitors, and buyers in a family-friendly environment built on safety and respect for firearms.
The Jackson gun show runs as a two-day event:
| Timing | Details |
|---|---|
| Saturday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM |
| Sunday | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM |
| Admission | Cash at the door (ATM available) |
| Setup | Friday 12 PM–7 PM, Saturday 7 AM–9 AM, Sunday 9 AM–10 AM |
No advance ticket sales—payment is cash only at the door. Plan accordingly if you're coming from out of state.
Vendors bring firearms, knives, ammunition, hunting gear, and outdoor equipment. You'll see everything from classic rifles and shotguns to modern tactical gear. Local knife makers are regularly featured, showcasing the Southern craftsmanship renaissance happening across workshops and backyards throughout the region.
New South takes firearm safety seriously. Every weapon entering the show floor gets a security check at the door:
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Ammunition must be sealed in boxes—no loose rounds allowed.
If you're purchasing a gun:
1. Bring valid ID — driver's license or state-issued picture ID required 2. Know the age requirements: - 18+ for rifles and shotguns - 21+ for handguns - Must be a Mississippi resident (non-residents can arrange shipment to an FFL in their state) 3. Payment options — All exhibitors accept cash and credit cards 4. Waiting period — Most buyers wait 3–5 business days for background checks, unless you have a Mississippi Concealed Weapons Permit (same-day walk-out with permit)
New South also connects attendees with certified instructors offering Mississippi Concealed Weapons Permit classes at the shows. Classes take approximately 2.5 hours and cover when, where, and how to safely carry a concealed weapon. All paperwork is completed during class—you mail it to the State of Mississippi and receive your permit 30–45 days later.
Interested in setting up a table? Contact New South to inquire about table availability and fees. All vendors must comply with strict show rules:
Beyond the shows, New South publishes hunting and firearm guides on their website covering topics like:
"When the holidays wind down and the temperature drops, a lot of us finally find the time to step into the shop and organize our collections for the new year."
