Full description and what we offer
American Plating Company started in 1944 and has grown from a local lighting industry operation into a national plating facility. Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, they work with commercial accounts, industrial manufacturers, and individual customers across the US and internationally.
The shop offers a full range of metal plating services:
They handle both barrel plating (high-volume work) and rack plating (individual pieces), as well as specialized jobs like restoring antiques, religious artifacts, medical devices, and hardware.
"My partner and armorer took a look at it and was amazed and very pleased with both the speed at which you finished the project and the quality of the finish out of the box. Much better than what we had been getting from our local vendor." — Anita, Windrose Armoury
For firearm work, they understand the specific demands of gun finishes. They'll recommend nickel plating over silver for gun barrels and components because nickel is harder and more durable under firing stress—not just what looks good, but what actually works.
They've been consistent since 2008. Long-time customers report zero problems with orders and satisfaction across decades of work.
Each job is evaluated for what works best and what's most cost-efficient. Metal properties vary, so they consider the specific needs of each project rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
