Nielsen Specialty Ammo manufactures precision slugs and pellets specifically designed for today's high-powered PCP air rifles. Unlike mass-produced pellets, these are custom-swaged ammunition built to exacting standards for hunting and sport shooting.

Each slug is swaged from soft alloy to deliver consistent expansion on game. The slugs feature hollow-point nose designs with dish bases—geometry proven effective in hunting applications. They're manufactured specifically for airguns like:

  • Airforce Texans
  • Seneca Big Bores
  • FX air rifles
  • Daystate PCP rifles
  • Edgun air rifles
  • American Air Arms
  • Most quality PCP systems

Nielsen's FAQ covers the critical questions shooters actually ask:

Diameter matters most. If you've shot .452 slugs before, don't jump to .457 just because they're both "45 caliber." They shoot completely different. Measure what already works in your gun using calipers or a micrometer.

Weight is gun-specific. The shop recommends testing pellets that travel 800-975 FPS in your setup—this varies by barrel, tune, and individual rifle. Heavier slugs generally produce better power and accuracy when they fit your barrel properly.

Test before committing. 22-caliber shooters can grab their 22 Cal Sampler (160 slugs, $13.99) to try multiple weights. NSA warns: they don't accept returns because all their slugs work in the right gun—you need to know your barrel diameter and preferred weight before ordering.

Nielsen ships from their Ohio warehouse. Orders placed by noon Eastern ship the same business day (weekends/holidays excluded). During holiday season expect 1-2 additional days. They use USPS flat-rate shipping exclusively—no UPS or FedEx.

Note: They no longer offer custom non-stock weights and don't accept returns. International shipping is discontinued due to customs complications.

"The best weight is the heaviest pellet/slug you get good results with in your gun." - Nielsen's tuning philosophy
