Own Montana Knife Company?
01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
Montana Knife Company manufactures all their knives in the USA, hand-finished in Frenchtown, MT. This means actual attention to detail at every stage—not mass production overseas.
Their knives use two specific steels:
52100 Ball Bearing Steel — Known for unmatched toughness and sharpness. The tradeoff: not as corrosion resistant. That's why all 52100 steel in their knives gets PVD coated.
Magnacut Stainless Steel — Tough, holds an edge well, naturally corrosion resistant, and easy to resharpen.
On the coating side, they offer two options:
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) — A blade gets blasted to prep the surface, then placed in a vacuum chamber with a sacrificial metal alloy. That alloy deposits onto the blade at a molecular level, creating an exceptionally hard protective coating that integrates with the steel itself.
Cerakote — Ceramic-based paint baked onto the blade surface. The steel has to be roughed up first (bead blasted or sandblasted) to give the coating something to grip.
Montana Knife Company releases knives on a limited stock basis—typically one model in multiple color options, dropping most Thursday nights at 7pm MST. When they sell out, they're gone until the next drop weeks or months later. New releases are announced via email, text, and Instagram.
Every MKC knife comes boxed with an open-carry Kydex sheath and a lifetime warranty. The sheath is customizable for vertical or horizontal carry, left or right hand.
Use warm soap and water, dry thoroughly, then apply MKC blade wax to keep the knife looking new. They provide care instructions and videos on their site.
Follow their Instagram and email list to know drop times—inventory moves fast and first-come, first-served means you need to be ready when the Thursday evening window opens.
