Buffalo County 4-H Shooting Sports Club is the shooting sports program of Buffalo County 4-H, which is run by Nebraska Extension from its office on the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Kearney.
The club's matches are scored on the Orion system and posted to its public results page. Its 2026 season included a February invitational in Kearney and a March fair shoot, each with BB gun, air pistol, and precision and sporter three-position air rifle events.
Buffalo County 4-H also lists .22 rifle and pistol, smallbore, archery, muzzleloader, shotgun and hunting skills among its shooting sports projects.
The program added trap in 2008 for members ages 12 to 18, once the Fort Kearny Shooting Sports Association range opened northeast of Kearney and the club had shotgun-certified instructors. That first season opened with two weeks of classroom work before moving outdoors to the range for hands-on practice, ahead of the state trap shoot in Doniphan.
